How does Amsterdam come to a safe and responsible data and technology policy? At this event, Waag ran workshop exercises to apply the values of the Tada manifesto to a range of real-world scenarios of data use in cities.
Facebook influences elections, AirBnB disrupts the housing market and data leaks are the order of the day. Responsible data & technology policy is essential for the digital future of Amsterdam. To this end, the excesses must be tackled and coherent, visionary policies developed with room for alternatives. What values underlie a responsible policy and how can we guarantee this in practice?
In this hands-on workshop for politicians, policy makers and other interested parties, applied the values of the Tada manifesto and the alternative methods of DECODE to existing case studies. It considered what a safe and responsible data policy for Amsterdam looks like.
The workshop is part of the European-funded DECODE project and was accessible free of charge. It was held at the Parkhuis de Zwijger.
DECODE was funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Programme, under grant agreement number 732546.
